The videos of the incident have been widely circulated, that's why there's a $30 million lawsuit. Babbitt came to the protest alone, she was not part of any mob. And she was seen casually speaking to the policeman just before she was shot. For some reason the policemen she was speaking to abandoned their position and some of the protesters got out of control. Had byrd simply himself visible and given ample warning with gun drawn, it would have all ended. Some of the protesters did see him before the shooting and immediately stopped.
Using lethal Force against people because you don't know their intentions is not the standard, nor is not liking there political affiliation. Lethal force is used only when there's a lethal threat. The no class coward offered the family no condolences whatsoever. Just paints himself as a hero. This is the biggest point of contention. Fair point. I think the policeman leaving their positions at the doors is also problematic. They were not assaulted in any way. They just casually walked away and the protesters got out of hand. They should have warned the protesters that if they breached that line they risked being shot. |

She still didn't break anything, but if you want to get technical the last I checked you were innocent until proven guilty. She was not convicted of anything, nor did she resist arrest. And the penalty for breaking and entering is not death. |
