I think there's a strong argument that the impact social media has on mental health is far more dangerous, as a whole, than firearms. That doesn't mean that both aren't detrimental. Every day, 106 people die from gun violence. How many people do you think die per day from Facebook? What do you think the priority should be for safeguarding children (and adults)? Guns or Facebook? I would think that's an impossible stat to track because it's not a weapon designed to inflict physical pain and it plays a heavy role into contributing to toxic mental health. Personally, as a parent of younger children, social media platforms that are designed to addict and brainwash are significantly more concerning to me than guns. |
