Mike Tomlin is really starting to piss me off with how he's giving rookies playing time. Joey Porter Jr has graded out as not only one of the best rookie CBs on his limited exposure, but one of the best CBs period in the NFL, and he is refusing to start him over Levi Wallace, who has proven to be trash and not at all fit for man to man in our system.
Same thing with Broderick Jones. He graded as the best rookie OT in the NFL last week against the Ravens with Moore hurt and is our top graded OL, but is refusing to start him over Dan Moore, or even consider moving Moore to RT over Okorafor so Jones can start at LT. You draft these guys to fill holes on your roster, yet refuse to give them any experience with actual NFL action.
These guys are better for the team than who is in front of them. Make the move.

They've been outcoached in every game and have been saved by a few lucky bounces and certain players playing out of their minds (mainly Watt and Pickens). At most, they will be 8 and 9 or 9 and 8. At most, if they keep getting lucky.

It’s truly amazing Tomlin brings these guys in to be starters, not ride the bench. They are playing better than the guys in front of them. You have nothing to lose. Why not start them if they make your team better? Get them meaningful game reps so they are ready when the team is ready to compete. It makes no sense not to start them at this point. Look at Benton. He is a star in the making and gets better with reps, but only bc people are hurt. If it were up to Tomlin, he would still be riding the bench as our backup NT.

That's true, but game performance is what really matters. If a player is significantly better in games, I don't see why they shouldn't be getting more playing time in games. It's the NFL - not HS, where some guys slack off all week (and offseason) and then finally put in effort in games. The only legit argument is that we don't know how the players did on each play, with consideration of what was called and so forth. But splash plays are often worth some missed assignments, especially when the alternative hasn't been making splash plays and has also been missing assignments.

I can only speculate what that is If he has a serviceable veteran starter, he’s paying for a veteran so why not burn his tread and save the rookie. If the vet goes down, then you play the rookie. To win a championship you need a lot of talent peaking at the same time

Levi Wallace and Dan Moore are trash and should not be starting. Wallace is not a fit for this Defense and Moore gets regularly demolished by Myles Garrett, someone the Steelers face twice a year. In his one start against the Ravens, Jones is the highest graded offensive linemen on the entire team, while JPJ has provided both splash plays and solid coverage in his limited action. There is not much justification for Tomlin to be sitting those rookies at this point in the season, especially considering the importance of their draft position and what they were brought in to do for this franchise.

Reading this, it doesn't even seem that Tomlin pulled Trubisky in favor of the rookie Pickett last year after three weeks. I hate to see coaches being reluctant to play their rookies, as if they could only learn from the bench and not from the field too.

I love you guys that are smarter than Mike Tomlin Tomlin is a great coach and probably a lock for the Hall of Fame at this point in his career, but with Pittsburgh fans, it is starting to feel like he has outstayed his welcome here. Almost like Andy Reid's final years in Philadelphia. Tomlin has already lasted longer than Bill Cowher did as a Head Coach and is starting to see too many disappointing years in Pittsburgh to justify extension after extension and how he seemingly can do no wrong in the eyes of the Rooneys. I honestly think a change of scenery could do wonders for both the Steelers and Tomlin. Tomlin is a guy that players want to play for, but he doesn't necessarily have the best ability to build a roster that can compete for a Championship. He could be the missing piece for a lot of teams that have a championship caliber roster that haven't gotten over the hump, but I think he's done all he can do here in Pittsburgh.

I'm calling it now for the miserable Bears Fans. Tyson Bagent will be Jay Cutler if he gave a shit. He's still pretty rough around the edges, but that poise and quick release when that god awful O-line gave him zero protection was very impressive.
He's got accuracy issues on deep passes and can make some reckless throws, but he makes quick reads like a veteran.

Man Derek Carr sucks so bad in the red zone.
I started Rasheed Shaheed on a whim in a league and I can't get the play out of my head where Carr just didn't throw him the ball when he was wide open in the end zone.
The guy goes in motion pre-snap and then runs an amazing route from the slot to break wide ass open, is obviously the #1 target on the play, and Carr for reasons I can't understand just fucking stares at him the whole time and doesn't pull the trigger. He later then throws him a jump ball that he catches but only gets 1 foot in. Carr literlaly might as well just have punted the fucking ball that play. I will never forget. Thank god we didn't go after him in FA.

But it looked like the Saints made a lot of mistakes that cost them the game. It was like watching the Falcons. lol But WTF was up with Pederson going for it on 4th down on the 47 yard line, up 8 points, with a lot of time left? The Saints marched right down the field and scored after that. Also, something the Falcons' Arthur Smith would do. lol

But last night he seemed like a poor leader, doing a lot of bitching. And of course, his play was far from perfect.

I could have made that throw lol

And the ownership, the McCaskey experiment needs to end too.
